Therapy in Oakville

Two Registered Massage Therapists, appointments from 30 to 90 minutes, booked by the time you need to release tension and promote mobility.

What massage therapy actually involves

Massage therapy at Sunshine Wellness is a registered health service. Both therapists are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

Who books massage therapy

  • People who sit at a desk all day. Neck, shoulder and upper back tension is the single most common reason people book here.
  • People who train. Recovery between sessions, and work on the areas that take the most load.
  • People carrying an old complaint. Something that flares up periodically and never quite resolves.
  • People who are pregnant. Prenatal and post-natal appointments are positioned and adapted for each trimester.
  • Emergencies and people who come in regularly. A lot of the appointments here are emergencies, flare-ups and maintenance, booked as needed.

What the therapists work with

Different modalities suit different problems. Your therapist chooses from these based on what they find, rather than you having to pick in advance.

Swedish massage

The foundation of most appointments. Long strokes and kneading through the muscle, at whatever pressure suits you on the day.

Lymphatic drainage

A much lighter, rhythmic technique that works with the lymphatic system rather than the muscle. Very different in feel from a deep tissue session.

Cupping therapy

Suction cups lift the tissue rather than press into it. They can leave circular marks for a few days.

Prenatal and post-natal massage

Positioned and adapted for pregnancy, using side lying and bolstering rather than lying face down. Useful through all trimesters.

TMJ treatment

Work on the jaw, the muscles around it and the neck. Some is done inside the mouth with a gloved hand, after an assessment and with your consent.

Frequently asked questions

No. You can book directly with either therapist online or by calling the clinic.

Thirty minutes is enough for one focused area such as a neck and shoulders. Sixty minutes is the most commonly booked and covers a broader treatment. Ninety gives room for full body work with extra time on a problem area.

You undress only to your comfort level. You are draped with a sheet the whole time and only the area being worked on is uncovered. If you would rather stay clothed, say so, and your therapist will adapt.

Yes. The rates on the services page are listed with HST, so the total at the desk is what you pay.
